How payment processing and billing works on Optionomics

Payment & Billing

All payment processing and billing for Optionomics subscriptions is securely handled through Stripe, a leading payment platform trusted by millions of businesses worldwide.

Payment Processing

Secure Checkout:

  • All transactions processed through Stripe
  • Industry-standard encryption (SSL/TLS)
  • PCI DSS compliant via Stripe
  • Your card details never stored on our servers
  • Secure tokenization for recurring billing

Requirements:

  • Valid payment card
  • Billing address
  • Email address for receipts

How Billing Works

Initial Subscription

When you subscribe to Optionomics:

  1. Select a Plan: Choose Delta, Gamma, Theta, or Vega
  2. Enter Payment Details: Securely processed by Stripe
  3. Confirm Subscription: Review order and confirm
  4. Instant Access: Immediate access to all plan features

Checkout Process:

  • Redirected to secure Stripe checkout page
  • Enter card details and billing address
  • Apply promotion codes (if available)
  • Complete payment
  • Redirected back to Optionomics

Recurring Billing

Monthly Billing:

  • Charged on the same day each month
  • Based on subscription start date
  • Automatic renewal until canceled

Billing Notifications:

  • Receipt sent after each successful payment
  • Failure notifications if payment unsuccessful
  • Renewal reminders (optional)

Managing Payment Methods

Adding a Payment Method

  1. Go to Account → Subscription
  2. Click “Manage Billing” (opens Stripe Billing Portal)
  3. Select “Add payment method”
  4. Enter card details
  5. Save as default payment method

Updating Payment Method

To change your payment card:

  1. Access Stripe Billing Portal from subscription page
  2. Click “Update payment method”
  3. Enter new card information
  4. Set as default if desired
  5. Optionally remove old card

When to Update:

  • Card expiring soon
  • Lost or stolen card
  • Switching to different card
  • Failed payment notification

Removing Payment Methods

You can remove payment methods in the Billing Portal:

  • Cannot remove the only/default payment method
  • Must have at least one active payment method
  • Old cards automatically archived after removal

Failed Payments

If a payment fails, here’s what happens:

Immediate Actions:

  1. Email notification sent to your account
  2. Stripe retries automatically over several days
  3. Account suspended if all retries fail

Common Reasons for Failure:

  • Insufficient funds
  • Expired card
  • Card declined by bank
  • Incorrect billing information
  • Card security issues

Resolving Failed Payments:

  1. Check the payment failure email
  2. Update payment method in Billing Portal
  3. Contact your bank if card was declined
  4. Payment automatically retries once updated

Account Status:

  • Access continues during retry period
  • Account suspended after final retry fails
  • Can reactivate by updating payment method
  • All data preserved during suspension

Billing Portal

Access full billing management through the Stripe Billing Portal:

Available in Billing Portal:

  • View payment history
  • Download invoices
  • Update payment methods
  • Change subscription plan
  • Cancel subscription
  • View upcoming invoices
  • Update billing information

Accessing Billing Portal:

  1. Log into Optionomics
  2. Navigate to Account → Subscription
  3. Click “Manage Billing”
  4. Opens in new window (Stripe hosted)

Invoices & Receipts

Invoice Details:

  • Company: Optionomics, LLC
  • Address: 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713
  • Support: support@optionomics.ai

Receiving Invoices:

  • Emailed after each successful payment
  • Available in Billing Portal
  • Downloadable as PDF
  • Includes all transaction details

What’s Included:

  • Invoice number and date
  • Billing period
  • Plan details
  • Amount charged
  • Payment method
  • Tax information (if applicable)

Refunds

Refund Policy:

  • No automatic refunds for monthly subscriptions
  • Contact support@optionomics.ai for refund requests
  • Refunds processed through Stripe
  • Returned to original payment method
  • May take 5-10 business days to appear

When Refunds May Apply:

  • Duplicate charges
  • Technical issues preventing access
  • Billing errors
  • First-time subscription concerns

Not Eligible for Refund:

  • Partial month refunds
  • Change of mind (use cancellation instead)
  • Features not matching expectations
  • Unused portion of prepaid period

Subscription Changes

Upgrading Plans

When you upgrade:

  • Immediate Access: New features available instantly
  • Prorated Billing: Credit for unused time on old plan
  • New Charges: Difference charged immediately
  • Billing Date: Remains the same

Example: Upgrading from Delta ($9) to Gamma ($59) mid-month:

  • Receive credit for unused Delta time
  • Charged difference for Gamma
  • Next regular charge on normal billing date

Downgrading Plans

When you downgrade:

  • Access Maintained: Keep current features until period ends
  • Takes Effect: At next billing cycle
  • No Refunds: No credit for remaining time
  • Feature Loss: Higher-tier features unavailable after downgrade

Example: Downgrading from Vega ($99) to Theta ($79):

  • Keep API access until current period ends
  • Theta plan starts at next billing date
  • Lower charge applied going forward

Cancellation & Billing

When you cancel your subscription:

Immediate Effects:

  • Stop future billing
  • Cancellation confirmed via email
  • No cancellation fees

Access After Cancellation:

  • Full access until current period ends
  • All features available until expiration
  • Data preserved for 90 days
  • Can reactivate anytime

Reactivation:

  • Subscribe again through Plans page
  • Choose same or different plan
  • Immediate access upon payment
  • Previous data restored (if within 90 days)

Security & Privacy

Payment Security:

  • End-to-end encryption
  • Secure card tokenization
  • No card data stored by Optionomics
  • PCI DSS compliant processing
  • Fraud detection and prevention

Privacy Commitments:

  • Payment info only shared with Stripe
  • Never sell billing information
  • Secure data transmission
  • Regular security audits

Promotion Codes

Applying Promo Codes:

  • Enter at checkout during subscription
  • Applied automatically to invoice
  • Discounts vary by promotion
  • One code per transaction

Types of Promotions:

  • Percentage discounts (e.g., 20% off)
  • Fixed amount off (e.g., $10 off)
  • Free months
  • Limited time offers

Billing FAQs

When will I be charged? Immediately upon subscription, then on the same day each month.

Can I get a pro-rated refund if I cancel? No, but you retain access until your current billing period ends.

What happens if my payment fails? You’ll receive an email notification and we’ll automatically retry. Update your payment method to resolve.

Can I pause my subscription? Not currently. You can cancel and resubscribe when ready.

Do you offer discounts for non-profits or students? Contact support@optionomics.ai to discuss educational or non-profit pricing.

How do I change my billing address? Update it in the Stripe Billing Portal accessible from your subscription page.
